Oritamefa Baptist Nursery/Primary School, Total Garden

STAFF STRENGTH: 47
STUDENTS ENROLLMENT: 756

Oritamefa Baptist church underwent a period of very rapid growth between the year 1966 to 1969 and this was accompanied by visible and marked increase in the number of children both of members and others in the neighbourhood attending Sunday school classes and church services. An acute need was therefore felt for the establishment of a Nursery School to cater for these children.

After prayerful and thoughtful consideration and foresight, the school was founded by the members of ORITAMEFA BAPTIST CHURCH under the leadership of Reverend C.M Bowers, who was the American Pastor of the church at the time. They all felt the need for a school where Christian and moral principles may develop with sound education. On the basis of this, ORITAMEFA BAPTIST CHURCH made the Sunday school building available to accommodate the initial Nursery classes of the school.

The names of those who must be mentioned in the founding and establishment of the school are Late Deacon A.O Bamgbose, Deacon A . Akinlawon, Mr. B.F Dada & Mrs. A. Taiwo. These among others, supported by the membership of the church, were involved in the organization, planning and establishment of the school. Necessary approval was sought and obtained from the Western State Ministry of Education. The Nursery and Primary School opened its doors to the 1st Batch of children on the 19th of January, 1970 with Mrs. Adeniyi as its first and foundation headmistress.

THE RECENT TREND IN OBS
The rush, the desire and the rate at which parents are bent on getting their children admitted into ORITAMEFA BAPTIST NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL is quite alarming. To this end, Oral and written interviews, are now conducted for KG 1 and Transfer in order to give more rooms for new pupils to gain admission into the school. The Management has well qualified and capable teachers who work assiduously towards the pupils' excellent academic performances. Some of our pupils are given double promotion from pry 4 to 6 due to their excellent performances.
The school's Value Statement is EXCELLENCE THROUGH INTEGRITY. To the glory of God, since the inception of the Model School in 1996, many of our pupils from the Nursery and Primary (OBN/PS) have gained and are still gaining admission into the school with high percentages. Presently, the school has 27 classrooms with over 34 teaching staff members. 5 cleaners, 5 Administrative staff. The present chairperson is Mrs. Bose Babatunde.
